Alone Again, Naturally

I am looking for ideas to send HuMom the message that even though I have been walked and given a nice juicy raw bone, that leaving me along for 12 hours is totally unacceptable behavior.

OMD!! HOME ALONE!

Harooo every one.

I should have known first thing this morning, when HuMom was up before the sun came up, that something was difFURent about today.

She packed me and Kiley up in the transporter and we headed to the park way before any pup was ever up.

Not only did we do our usual 2.5 mile hike, but she took us around the lake for a second loop.

Something is not right about this routine.

HuDAd is away. HuMOm has gone to work. We are alone till 11pm tonight. Guess what I am doing today?

ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Can some pup come check on me later?

Road Trip!

Sometime tomorrow morning, just the HuMom and I, will sneak out of the house before Kiley gets up. She's packed my dog food and toys and we're taking the red siberian transporter on a long road trip to a place she calls "home".

I don't know where this home is. But Humom tells me we will be in the car for at least 12 hours. I think this place is somewhere south of the North Pole in a place Humom calls Lake George, NY. We'll be stopping along the way to visit friends. Staying with grandparents in something called an RV. I hope I get to ride in the front seat and stop at McDonalds' for cheeseburgers.

Maybe there will be snow?

I will send reports on my vacation.

Miss you already, Kiley.

Enough hair for another dog!

How many times have you have you heard these words:
"There's enough hair here for another dog?
Meet our new dog!
Yeah he's wearing my collar and no he doesn't have eyes.

A rare glimpse of me and Kiley singing a song in unison.
Of course as soon as I realized the camera was out, I immediately clammed up and hid!

We Go Out Walking, After Midnight

Folks are always asking, how do two snow dogs do during the summer
living in Virginia?
I admit. It does get hot. Today's high was 98 degrees and at 10pm
it was just under 90 degrees.
Way too hot for a husky dog.
Don't you agree?
So for tonight's walk, Humom loaded us up into the Siberian Transporter. (aka the Mal Mobile).
We drove to our favorite local beach for a midnight walk at Chic's Beach!
Chic's beach is on the bay side of the oceanfront and it runs under the massive Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
We took tons of pictures but because it's so dark, many didn't come out.
But we will share with you the ones that did.
Here you can see me and Kiley walking along the water just under the bridge. The water is as warm as a bathtub.
While Kiley's favorite thing to do is swim, there is one thing on the beach that I love more than anything.
CRABBING!

There are hundreds of crabs scampering all over the beach! I spend my time hunting them.
Here's Kiley running out of the water. She was just bombarded by an enormous wave!
And last, I will leave you with a picture of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. It's pretty awesome

(PS. We did not take the last picture. It's from the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel website

She's Sooo Mean

This weekend, we went for our walk at First Landing State Park!
Another historic hike, First Landing State Park is near the site of the first landing on Aprile 26, 1607 of Christopher Newport and the Virginia Company colonist before estasblishing themselves at Jamestown!
This video is proof of the abuse I take from the malamute.
You will note there is at least 3 body checks delivered to my beautiful red self by the malamute.
How will I establish Sibe World Domination if the malamute keeps beating me up?

Haute Husky Couture

This design was inspired by Sebastian Schnuelle who just so happens to be one of my favorite mushers from the Yukon Quest and Iditarod.

(Don't tell my huMom that. She still has a thing for other musher.)

Haute!

Let the Bodies Hit The Floor

Lately there has been talk on SiberNut about collars and what types of collars are best for traning a husky not to pull.

So we wanted to demonstrate how we walk on leash.  But when we loaded our video up to up to You Tube and let You Tube pick the music, this is the song they recommended.

Retracing History

Mom wanted to link history and nature which lead us to hike the Greenspring Greenway Trail near Williamsburg, Virginia.
The three mile trail traces the foot steps of the Indians and the early colonists.
The trail is next to the "Mainland Farm" which is the oldest continuously cultivated farm in America!
It's 1 mile south of the first permanent English settlement ~ Jamestown. So this puts the farm well within boundaries of the first American Settlement
Here we are! Starting out on our adventure!
Kiley is checking out a noise heard somewhere off the bridge
The boardwalk runs through the wetlands so we don't get out paws muddy
We're coming up now alongside the Mainland Farm
We discover some ancient farm equipment
The cornfields remind me of our furfriends in the midwest.
Retracing the steps of the early colonists
Pocahontas is that you?

Dim Sum with a side of soy sauce

Hey There L'il Feller
This is Ozziemonster.
The Chinese Crested!
My "almost" new neighbor!
He was bought by my neighbor's son as a gift for his mom for her retirement. Lucky for us pups, the son fell in love with the hairless pup and decided he will stay with him.
Ozzie is 14 weeks old and weighs almost 3 lbs!
We are glad for Ozzie sake, he is only visiting his grandma and will not be staying.
I love and licked the little guy.
But we were worried for his safety with my sister Kiley being around.
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend everyone!

Nigel has been FOUND!

Not sure how many pups are following the "Toughest Race on Earth", but in case you didn't know, the Iditarod has been going on since last week. We have been glued to the computer and blogs looking for news out of Alaska.

Here at our house, we have been worried about a sleddog named Nigel.

Nigel, one of Nancy Yoshida 16 sleddogs, was recaptured on Friday after running around in the wilderness for almost 3 days!

Nigel went missing when his musher, NancyYoshida, tied him to a tree after a horrific sled crash. She unhooked him and expected him to follow her down the gorge. Yeah right! Have you seen his picture? Is he not a husky?

Instead of following her down the mountain, Nigel gave her that "C'Ya" look and took off. I would have done the same thing. According to Alaska Daily News, the last time Yoshida saw him was Tuesday morning when he came running down the steps in front of Colorado musher Kurt Reich's lead dogs. Yoshida grabbed a handful of dog food and called for Nigel, but he didn't come.

HuMom can so relate to this. It's all a husky-game. The last time I was loose, I came running out of the darkness and buzzed right by my Humom several times.

Nigel was found on Friday the 13th! His lucky day. Search parties on snow machines had been out looking for him but he finally was coaxed out of the wilderness by owner's of an inn.

Nigel was finally reunited with his musher, who was flown in for the occasion. I hear there were lots of tail wags and snoooter kisses.

I was thinking maybe his musher was in shock after her sled crashed. I am not saying it was a stupid thing to do. But to borrow a phrase from my friend Khyra, I'm just saying...

So now we can continue watching our race now that Nigel has been found. See you in Nome!

Just Me and My Mom

Before heading out to Raleigh NC, our HuDad took us to the dogpark to shake the sillies out.
]

When HuMom came home from work, she realized Kiley was limping. With all our running around today, Kiley must have blew a hammie. So she gave Kiley a tramadol and Kiley headed off to bed.

Which means I get HuMom all to myself
.

We're just chilling. Watching Judge Judy and MMA fights on the DVR. Life is good.

Newport News Park

In honor of our friend Zim, we decided brave the icey bridge tunnel system and drive to our favorite area park in Newport News.

Now that it's March, we now there are not too many walking days left as soon the summer will be here with the intense heat.

We had a different video picked out but for some reason we were unable to upload it. Will try again tonight.

lookie what we saw on our walk today

A deer!

Hey there big guy!

Kiley got real close to the deer and just watched. But when Mom went to take some more pictures, I began to bark like mad so Mom had to drag us away from his enclosure. We are so sad for this guy. Up close, his eyes look all clouded over as if he was blind. They have him in a small enclosure and when we approached, he came walking up to the fence and his nose was sniffing away. Guess he could smell Kiley's dog funk.

there was also a hawk in a cage!

We might go back and visit him Monday and find out what the story is behind this guy. They have other animals there too. But it just seems his enclosure is so small for a big majestic guy like him.

gallery of shame

This is my Mom's special dance shoes. They're Aris Allen rug cutters. They fit like a dream and she dances like Ginger Rogers when she wears them. Cost her a pretty penny too.

This is what Kiley did to her special dance shoes. Tsk tsk tsk. She must have thought they were a giant rawhide! Mom found her partially digested shoe today. That explains why Kiley had the sticky poo last night.

Bad Kiley.

My New Collar

I want you all to get a close up look at my new collar!

The Mom loves the kool skulls and hearts and it even says "Mom" LOL
Even though it looks really cool, my human suggests that any collar used to walk a Siberian be adjusted perfectly. She can tell you the mayhem that ensues when one's collar is not adjusted just right.
